About Us In 1966, a local pastor saw the need in the community for organized church sponsored recreation. The Independent Church League (ICL) began playing basketball with only a handful of church teams. It quickly expanded into softball and even tried a golf league in 1973. Today, the ICL has organized sports almost year-round hosting 67 Softball teams in the spring and summer of 2009 and 32 Volleyball teams in the fall and winter of 2009-2010. The ICL is a non-profit organization over 44 years old. Its name is intended to bring churches within the community under its umbrella without fear of categorizing a single fellowship. The ICL Board for example is made up of volunteers from Seventh Day Adventist, Covenant and Independent churches. As the ICL has no overhead, and is not profit making, it charges churches 33-50% less than recreation activities sponsored by city, county and private leagues in the South Puget Sound area. EXAMPLE: For 2009, one local municipal in the area charged $650 in team fees for 10-12 games. ICL is charging $450 per team this year and hopes to keep it there for a few years. That's quite a savings! |

| COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS In cooperation with South Sound Baseball League and Olympia Parks and Recreation, ICL has co-funded the construction of dugouts on LBA's fields 4 & 5. Photos
We should
celebrate that, with God's blessing, we have enough surplus
money to improve LBA for the entire community that use the
park.
